All of our massages are generally a blend of techniques that custom fit the client's needs. However, certain therapists will be able to focus more on specific styles if you prefer. Most of our therapists are trained in all of these techniques. These are some examples:

• Therapeutic massage is a combination of many techniques that cater to your specific needs and emphases in stress-reduction and relaxation. 

• Neuromuscular massage compliments deep tissue work, enhances range of motion and effectively loosens muscle attachments in joints. Tara specializes in these techniques.

• Swedish massage tends to be lighter to medium pressure with lots of flow and relaxing movements. Every ,massage therapist receives training in this technique in school.

• Deep Tissue is a slow, deep, and intentional massage that singles out certain problem areas from injury or postural patterns. 

• Sports - Can be lighter or deeper depending on if the athlete is post event or in the middle of training. 

• Pregnancy - We have a great pregnancy pillow that allows you to lay face down! It takes the pressure off of breasts and tummy for maximum melting ability. If you are almost due, it may be requested to do side-lying.

• Thai Table Massage (Vanessa) incorporates a unique blend of stretching and body manipulation, using the therapist's entire body to promote deep relaxation. Clients remain clothed in loose-fitting cotton attire for maximum comfort, but if undressed, the session will focus on a Thai-influenced massage style with modified techniques.

• Hot Stones - We recently upgraded to have 3 sets of hot stones to accommodate all three rooms at the same time! Advanced notice is preferred, but if hot stone is a last-minute upgrade keep in mind it can take 20-30 minutes for them to reach an optimal temperature.

• Lymphatic Drainage Treatment (Vanessa) is recommended ideally for sessions that are 75mins and longer. Indicated as early as day one post-surgery, this is generally lighter-touch, rhythmic and relaxing work applied without the use of oil. Can be blended with other massage modalities. Can be indicated for conditions like Edema (fluid retention) & Lymphedema - cancer related care and in general in aiding the lymphatic system/lymph nodes in processing toxins as the body’s first line of defense against infections. This treatment is done manually and not using lymphatic tools. (priced same as massage)

  Fascia Release Therapy utilizes specialized manual techniques to alleviate pain and stiffness by targeting restricted fascia, the connective tissue enveloping muscles, organs, bones, nerves, the circulatory and lymphatic systems. This therapy incorporates gentle, rhythmic massage that stretches the skin and sustained pressure to relieve tension and enhance flexibility. This technique often results in a sometimes intense feeling yet beneficial somatic experience and is not generally applied using oil but can be blended with other techniques. (priced same as massage)

• Side-lying Massage is a great way for a client who might have trouble or the inability to lay flat on a table face down or face up. Pregnancy massage is sometimes given in this fashion as well as someone with a specific injury. Please make a specific request if you want a side-lying massage as not all of our therapists offer that service.

When the therapist has to haul the table down hallways, in elevators, or around a property complex it often takes an extra 20-30 minutes of time and labor for these logistics.

Essential oils: Truckee Massage carries high quality doTERRA essential oils. Common places of application include your spine, bottom of feet, ears and chest. We have a reference book to look through in order to select which oil(s) may work best for your body's needs. Essential oils are incredibly healing and provide a plethora of health benefits not limited to but including: help with anti-inflammation, stress relief, digestive issues, emotional balancing, meditation, headaches and sinus pressure, and sleep aid. This add-on includes your choice of up to 3 oils.

Honor Salve: This organic and locally-sourced salve is made with safflower oil, shae butter, beeswax, hemp flowers, and essential oils. There are many herbs infused into the salve such as arnica, calendula, flower, cats claw, white willow bark, and St, John’s wart. The blend of these healing plants are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, and are successful to ease chronic pain, achy muscle, and arthritis as well as promote circulation. The CBD and THC properties are not separated out in this salve. Although the CBD found in this salve is full spectrum (not broad spectrum), if used a spot treatment on a sore area, there is little to no concern of psychotropic effects.

Cupping: An ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Please inquire with your therapist if you are curious about what kind of cups they use. Traditionally heated glass cups are used, but more modern techniques involve silicone cups. One or two cups can be helpful in loosening up a problem area. Also, several cups can be placed all over for a full body experience while receiving massage.

Magnesium Spray and Lotion: In a massage session, magnesium lotion acts as a natural muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory aid, helping to ease deep-seated tension, reduce muscle cramps, and promote faster physical recovery. Using it topically allows for targeted relief in specific areas of discomfort while bypassing the digestive system, which can be beneficial for those with sensitive stomachs.

Sancion con Rosas (Rose Therapy): This therapy, provided by Vanessa, is a gentle energy-work modality from Mexico that utilizes the unique vibrational qualities of live roses, with each color providing distinct energetic support to harmonize body, mind, and spirit. This deeply nourishing practice is particularly beneficial during times of transition, grief, or emotional vulnerability, allowing customers to take home the healing roses at the end of their session for continued support. 30 minutes will be added to your booked service.
